Modern Day Idols (MDI) are an indie pop-rock band formed in Boston in May 2011 by veteran Boston singer-songwriter Chris Wagner. MDI was born of the love for honest, memorable, melodic, and energetic rock. MDI saw their live debut in the Fall of 2011 and following a short tour to refine their live act, spent Winter 2012 through Summer of 2013 hard at work recording new material at Q Division and Rocksalt Studios with producer Craig Small. The band’s debut CD titled “Almost Glad To See You,” was released on September 7, 2013, and the band gigged extensively from 2013-2016 behind the record. After brief creative hiatus and lineup change, MDI returned to live performances featuring new members lead guitarist Tony Savarino, bassist Tommy Lada, and drummer Stephen Hart! MDI spent most of 2019 recording their sophomore EP eponymously titled “Modern Day Idols,” with three time Grammy Award winning producer Ducky Carlisle at Ice Station Zebra Studios, and the album, was digitally released on March 27, 2020. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Modern Day Idols celebrated the release of their album “Modern Day Idols” on Saturday September 18, 2021 at The Square Root, 2 Corinth Street, Roslindale MA.
